Since December, there have been rumors that BACKSTREET BOY AJ McLEAN is engaged to Sarah Martin. He finally confirmed it a few weeks ago at VH1's "Fairway to Heaven" event. Congratuations AJ and Sarah!
Under New Management
The BACKSTREET BOYS are under new management. After leaving The Firm after a disappointing third album (BLACK & BLUE) and a premature greatest hits album and bad press after AJ McLEAN entered rehab for an alcohol problem, the BOYS have signed with Irving Azoff and Howard Kaufman. Azoff has handled the careers of the Eagles, Steely Dan, Linda Ronstadt and Jackson Browne. Kaufman is currently representing Michael Jackson.
AJ Selling Orange Co. Home
BACKSTREET BOY AJ McLEAN is selling his Phillips Landing home in southwest Orange County. AJ is asking for $1.95 million. The house itself is 6,200 square feet, six bedrooms, five bathrooms, sound studio, dock, great views, a garden tub, a THX theater and a patio. AJ plans to buy a smaller home in this area and a bigger property in Southern California, which is where he spends most of his time these days. Some of the proceeds from the sale will go to the performer's JNN Foundation, whose goals are to keep music in the schools, to aid diabetes research and to provide a safe environment for kids. The house is to be sold furnished, but McLean plans to auction some items to raise more money for his foundation.
BACKSTREET BOYS HOWIE DOROUGH and KEVIN RICHARDSON carried the Olympic torch this past winter. HOWIE on DECEMBER 8, 2001 in Orlando, FL and KEVIN on JANUARY 16, 2002 in Los Angeles, CA.
BACKSTREET BOY NICK CARTER was arrested in Tampa Bay, Florida on Wednesday January 2, 2002 for a misdemeanor of "avoiding/opposing a law enforcement officer without violence." He believes he was simply arrested for being a BACKSTREET BOY. He was released on his on recognizance and later agreed to community service and a misdemeanor intervention program.

**NOTE ABOUT CHARTS: Whether they are the BILLBOARDS or local stations, charts and lists are compiled from the previous week's rotation of that song. So when something is listed "Week of" that means that for the previous week, they were played so many more times than other songs. They hold the spot they do until new counts are compiled. BILLBOARDS are difficult to figure out. They post the date as the next week ending on Saturday, but they are out the previous Friday. Someone needs to go in and teach those counters how to read a calendar! *lol* Some stations do nightly request lists. I will not post these as they require me to update daily and I just have no time for that!
